Undergraduate Research Opportunities

Syracuse University offers excellent undergraduate experiences in research. I highly encourage freshmen and sophomores to seek out research experience. Our lab would provide you with substantial skill development in biochemical and biophysical lab techniques. Advanced undergraduates may also work on their own projects.

Contact Prof. Carlos Castañeda (cacastan_at_syr.edu) about joining the lab. Please send your transcript, a resume/CV, and a one-page summary outlining your interests. Specifically, address why you think you’d be a good fit for this lab, and your career plans.

Many of our advanced undergraduates have received independent funding to pursue their research goals. After graduation, our students go on to graduate school in the biomedical sciences to pursue Masters’ or PhD degrees, or work in research labs before pursuing professional degrees (including MD/PhD). You can see the complete list of our lab alumni and their next step here.
