  • Carlos at EMBO Ubiquitin workshop

Carlos greatly enjoyed being at the beautiful Cavtat, Croatia, talking all things ubiquitin and making new friends. Many thanks to the organizers for the invitation to share our work on how different ubiquitin chains modulate UBQLN2 phase separation.

  • The future is bright!

We had the pleasure of hosting Sarah and Omar, two rising seniors from a local high school, over last month. We are thoroughly impressed with their knowledge and enthusiasm to learn. We will miss their energy but wish them the best of luck with their last year in high school and college!

  • Carlos at IDP GRC!

Carlos is very excited to be at the beautiful Les Diablerets, sharing our work and discussing all things disordered with old and new friends.

  • Our paper on the effects of polyUb chains on UBQLN2 LLPS is published in EMBO Reports!

We are very excited to see this story finally out after peer review. Employing multiple complimentary biophysical methods, we determined the molecular origins by which different polyUb chains impart distinct effects on UBQLN2 LLPS. Check out the story here!

  • Julianna is 2nd place winner of SU Biology Undergraduate Research Poster Competition!

    Congratulations to Julianna!!

  • Sarasi and Billy at training school for biomolecular condensates!

Sarasi and Billy spent the week in the beautiful Porto, Portugal to immerse themselves in biomolecular condensates in cell function, aging and disease. Thanks PhasAGE for organizing this wonderful workshop!

  • Sarasi and Carlos at ASBMB!

Congratulations to Sarasi for winning a travel award to present her work on how HOTag6-Ub affect UBQLN2 LLPS. Thanks Tanja Mittag for inviting Carlos to talk about our work polyUb chains and UBQLN2 LLPS. Lots of wonderful discussion and potential collaborations!

  • Carlos talks at condensate colloquium series!

Thanks to Rohit for the invitation – it was great to be paired with Allan Drummond who talked about stress biology and the role of RNA. More info about the series is here.

  • Carlos and Sarasi at BPS 2022!

At the first in-person meeting since the start of the pandemic, Carlos and Sarasi had a great time discussing science, catching up with old friends and meeting new ones. Carlos shared our work on polyUb chain modulation of UBQLN2 phase separation at one of the many LLPS platforms. Spring-like sunny San Francisco weather was a […]

  • Fun with OCC students!

We had a great time hosting Onondaga Community College students Amina and Sam in the lab this week, courtesy of the NSF. Both had great hands as well as wonderful curiosity and excitement about research, proteins, phase separation and connections to diseases. Congratulations on giving awesome first presentations! Good luck with your last semester at […]
